Straight-laced Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) has a dream, a good job, nice house, kids who grow up in a marriage with her high school sweetheart. But when Cal knows that his wife, Emily (Julianne Moore), has been cheating on him and wants a divorce. Cal feel stress, is now free to spend the night sulking alone in a local bar, Cal is taken as a wingman and poor students for players handsome, thirtysomething Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling). In an effort to help Cal get over his wife and began living his life, Jacob Cal opening eyes with plenty of choices in front of it: women flirt, drink a male and a sense of style that can not be found at Supercuts or the Gap. Cal and Emily is not only looking for love in what is probably all the wrong places: Cal 13-year old son, Robbie, was crazy about her 17-year-babysitter, Jessica, who harbors a crush on Cal. And although many Makeover Cal and his new conquest, the one thing that can not be made on the heart, which seems to keep him back where he started.
